A small selection of recent Fieldwork Labs projects.
Fieldbook is a powerful and feature rich data collection and management tool for ecological fieldwork. Fieldbook includes a web-based application for project and data management, and a mobile app for offline field data collection.
Fieldbook is now in private beta at https://fieldbook.xyz and is available to select customers for testing and evaluation. Public release will be later in 2026. Please get in touch with us if you are interested in using Fieldbook.

Fieldbook Community Edition is a simple and effective mobile app allowing community members, landcare groups, and naturalists to collect field data in offline environments.
Fieldbook is currently used byNature Conservation Margaret River Region to assist their woody weeds surveys with up to 100 community members using the app.
Here's a testimonial from Obelia Walker from NCMRR about Fieldbook and working with Fieldwork Labs:
The Fieldbook app has enabled Nature Conservation Margaret River Region to collect weed mapping data across the entire capes region and has been an enormous success in its first year. We have over 50 local community members actively using the app and a growing database of 11,000 weed records being shared with community groups and government departments. The up-to-date mapping has led to better, more responsive decision making and priority setting. The app is easy to use and accessible, providing a conduit between the community and those making decisions around weed control in the region.
It has been fantastic to work with Chid who has listened to our needs, provided effective solutions as well as ongoing advice and support. Thank you Chid for developing this valuable tool and for fast-tracking data collection on invasive weeds in the Margaret River region.

In partnership with the Native Seed Technology Innovation Hub at Curtin University, Fieldwork Labs is currently developing web and mobile applications to assist the native seed industry in Western Australia. The applications enable offline field data collection for seed collectors in remote areas, and allow seed collection companies to manage their inventory, track seed collections, and record data related to seed quality tests.
The Seed Scout app affords functionality such as offline data collection, photo uploads, and organisation administration tools.
Currently, the seed collection functionality of the Seed Scout app is being tested by seed collectors in the Kimberley, while the inventory functionality of the app is in development.

Built in in partnership with the Society for Ecological Restoration , SID is the world's largest repository of seed-related data, containing information on the traits and germination behaviour of seeds of thousands of plant species.
SID was originally developed by Kew Botanical Gardens in the UK, but in 2022 ownership was transferred to the Society for Ecological Restoration and Fieldwork Labs was contracted to develop a modern frontend application to allow searching the database.
In 2025, a new version of the application was released allowing authorised users to upload new data, ensuring the ongoing use and value of SID to the scientific community.
